Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test
About
Measures DNA fragmentation in sperm, a factor in male infertility and pregnancy loss.
Preparation
Completely avoid alcohol for 6-7 days before the test. Avoid any intoxication (tobacco, drugs, occupational, medicinal or toxic substances). If intoxication occurs, perform the test no earlier than 5-10 days afterward. Completely avoid medications (as agreed with your doctor) for 24 hours before the test. The day before providing semen, avoid heavy physical exertion and stressful situations. Completely avoid heat exposure (bath/sauna, occupational heat, febrile states) for 7 days before the test. Avoid physiotherapy and X-ray examinations for 72 hours before the test. After a prostate massage, perform the test no earlier than 3-4 days later. After a cold or other acute febrile illness, take the test 7-10 days later. After treatment of a urinary/genital inflammatory disease, take the test 2 weeks later. Empty the bladder before providing semen. Do not use a condom or lubricants (including saliva) to collect semen. Wash the genitals and hands before masturbation. The entire ejaculate must be collected.
