MRI screening

MRI + MR Angiography Head without IV contrast [3T]

MRIHead & Neck

About

Head MRI + MR Angiography is a combined magnetic resonance imaging procedure that includes a standard brain MRI (evaluating brain tissue, ventricles, and any lesions) and MR angiography (detailed visualization of the head's arteries or veins, with or without contrast). This safe method does not use X-ray radiation and generates an accurate three-dimensional map of the vascular network.

Preparation

Inform the staff about your health condition:
  • Please inform our staff if you have a pacemaker, implants, or dental prosthetics. This is critical for your safety, especially during an MRI scan.
  • If you suffer from claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), please let the clinic staff know before the day of the exam. The medical team will discuss possible solutions with you.
  • Inform the staff of any allergies (to medications, iodine, seafood, or contrast agents).
  • Let us know if you have kidney conditions – a blood test for creatinine or urea may be required, especially for contrast-enhanced procedures.
  • Inform the staff if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Please also report if you have diabetes, asthma, heart conditions, or other chronic illnesses.
Medications:
  • Continue taking all prescribed medications unless otherwise instructed.
  • If you are scheduled for a cardiac CT (MSCT), stop taking Metformin and SGLT2 inhibitors 48 hours before the test. Please consult your doctor for guidance.
Clothing and personal items:
  • Wear comfortable clothing without metal parts.
  • Remove all jewelry, watches, piercings, hair clips, hearing aids, and glasses before the scan.
Food and drink:
  • Fasting is not required for most procedures.
  • If your scan involves contrast injection or is a CT of the abdomen/pelvis, you may be asked to refrain from eating for 4–6 hours beforehand. Drink plain water as needed.
After the scan:
  • If you received a contrast agent, make sure to drink plenty of fluids to help flush it out of your system.
  • If you experience any unusual symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
Important: This is a brief guide. Always confirm specific preparation and follow-up instructions with your referring physician or the clinic where the scan will be performed.
