Measures transferrin, the main iron-transport protein. Used to evaluate iron metabolism and anemia.
Preparation
Do not eat for 8 hours before the test; still water is allowed. Stop iron-containing medications 72 hours before the test. Avoid physical and emotional stress for 30 minutes before the test. Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
