Human Papillomavirus, DNA Genotyping [real-time PCR]
About
Detects Human Papillomavirus, genetic material by real-time PCR. Used to diagnose active infection and determine the type/genotype.
Preparation
Before oropharyngeal (throat) swabs, for 3-4 hours do not eat, drink, brush teeth, rinse the mouth/throat, chew gum or smoke. Swabs are best taken in the morning, right after sleep. Women: take the urogenital swab before menstruation or 2-3 days after it ends. Men: do not urinate for 3 hours before a urogenital swab.

Avoid douching or using vaginal products such as creams, deodorants, or medications for 48 hours before the test.
Avoid sexual intercourse for 24 hours before the test.
