Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the test. Avoid caffeinated drinks for 8 hours before the test. Avoid fatty foods for 24 hours before the test. Do not eat for 12 hours before the test; still water is allowed. Avoid anticholinergic medications (as agreed with your doctor) for 24 hours before the test. Avoid physical and emotional stress for 30 minutes before the test. Do not smoke for 30 minutes before the test.
