Measures calcitonin, a thyroid hormone. Used mainly as a marker of medullary thyroid cancer.
Preparation
Do not eat for 12 hours before the test. Stop oral contraceptives one month before the test. Avoid physical and emotional stress for a day before the test. Do not smoke for 3 hours before the test.
