About
Measures aldosterone, an adrenal hormone regulating salt and blood pressure. Used to investigate hypertension and adrenal disorders.
Preparation
14-30 days before the test, stop diuretics, antihypertensives, steroids, oral contraceptives and estrogens. Avoid renin inhibitors for 7 days before the test. Avoid physical and emotional stress 72 hours before the blood draw. Do not smoke for 3 hours before the test.
