17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP)
About
Measures 17-hydroxyprogesterone, a steroid precursor. Used mainly to screen for congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
Preparation
For children under 1 year, do not feed for 30-40 minutes before the test. Do not eat for 2-3 hours before the test; still (non-carbonated) water is allowed. Unless directed otherwise by a doctor, women should take the test on days 3-5 of the menstrual cycle.
